The historic Showbox in Seattle, and its modern Art Deco interior, provided the perfect stage for the unparalleled theatrics of British rock titans, The Darkness. The venue, with its domed ceilings and tiered viewing areas, was packed with fans ready for a dose of pure, unadulterated glam rock spectacle.
Frontman Justin Hawkins, a force of nature, wasted no time, kicking off the night with newer tracks like the groovy “Rock and Roll Party Cowboy” before launching into the high-octane fan favorite, “Get Your Hands Off My Woman.” The band’s current setlist, which also features the melodic power of “Growing on Me” and the singalong “Love Is Only a Feeling”, proved their catalog goes far beyond their debut.
Hawkins spent the entire show working the crowd, delivering impossibly perfect falsettos. The night’s euphoric crescendo, naturally culminating with the massive hit “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” cemented The Darkness’s status as one of the best live rock acts working today. It was a spectacular night where sincere talent met glorious absurdity, leaving the Art Deco hall ringing long after the final chord.
