Dinastia Tour Arrives in Seattle’s Largest Indoor Concert Venue

Due to its geographical location Seattle often is the tail end of large tours, but for the sold out crowd in Seattle’s largest indoor concert venue and impressively renovated, Climate Pledge Arena. Seattle fans were the first to witness Peso Pluma’s new high energy act which included a performance with Tito Double P and Friends. If it wasn’t made obvious from Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance, over the last several years, Spanish genres of music have broken through cultural barriers to garner American audiences, resonating in mainstream music outlets.

DINASTIA, Peso’s recently released album is evidence that this isn’t a passing trend but a channel marker indicating that Pluma’s music, and music like it, is here to stay, in a much needed cultural exchange for the music industry in the US. While all of the rapper/singers’ performance was in Spanish, I would bet my bottom dollar that a non-zero percent of those in attendance did not “habla espanol”. But, tonight that didn’t matter, the storytelling told through choreography and heartfelt vocal melodies were your subtitles.

I arrived early and as people filtered to their seats, even with a nearly hour late start, the air started to fill with an energy that could only be felt at a venue like CPA (Climate Pledge Arena) - the feeling of static electricity. If you’ve ever stood by the ocean’s edge moments before a lightning storm, you know the feeling, your hair stands on end and there is a sense that you’re about to witness something spectacular. The lights drew down and there was a swell within the crowd. This feeling of energy, building in the crowd, swirled and after a brief silence the large screens illuminated with an image of a Peso and his band heading toward the stage from the green room. The arena nearly ignited.

The performance opened on a modestly sized stage with more speakers than floor space, with a lighting display that could help land an aircraft. Peso appeared on stage wearing an Adidas track suit flanked by a 10 piece band and the same amount of dancers also donning the 80s fashion statement, maybe it’s coming back? Peso Pluma’s metronomic staccato, yet smooth delivery, had the arena on their feet immediately, hands in the air.

The tour includes “and friends” which would indicate that guest artists will change throughout the tour but this night included a special performances from the Yakima, Washington native and international sensation Yahritza y Su Esencia and Armenta, with skillful choreography, pyrotechnics, outfit changes, and multiple stages.

If tonight was any indication of momentum this tour will have, this performance is not something you want miss.

Their setlist included many of their hits but for the first time live they played “Chiclona” and “London” and tracks from their newly release album titled DINASTIA, the namesake of this tour.
