After a terrific performance from their supporting band Mizmor, the momentum carried straight through as Monolord brought their signature brand of doom metal to a packed Substation in Seattle, drawing an enthusiastic crowd that filled the venue from wall to wall. As soon as the first notes rang out, the room was consumed by thick, heavy riffs that you could feel in your chest. The audience stayed locked in throughout the set, looking left and right you could see either headbanging and someone screaming the lyrics back to the stage as if they were the only ones at the show.
This was my first time seeing Monolord live, and the experience lived up to everything I had heard about their shows. The connection between the band and the crowd was evident all night, and that vibe never faded. When the set came to an end, it felt like it had gone by too quickly. I would gladly catch them again the next time they make their way through Seattle.
