Ashnikko summoned one of the most diverse, friendly, and passionate fanbases Seattle’s Showbox has seen in recent memory. Her fans, known as the Demidevils, were among the most original crowd I’ve encountered at a concert. Carefully ornamented in colorful fluff, fishnets, hats, leather, and latex, they blended familiar elements into something entirely their own—a look and energy that just made sense.
When Ashnikko hit the stage on March 23rd, the room was an ocean of bodies boiling with anticipation—ready to see, hear, dance, and connect with their favorite artist. The moment she emerged crawling from that tiny door in the middle of the stage, it felt less like an entrance and more like an eruption.
Ashnikko has tapped into something raw and necessary. Her music gives voice to a generation that feels increasingly disenfranchised by the polish and distance of mainstream pop idols and superstars. In her, they see someone human — embracing the unconventional and making music that is fearless, honest, and unapologetic.
Being part of that sold-out March evening renewed my hope in the next generation — their resilience, their freedom, and their deep love for art that refuses to conform.
